CCARS Meeting Minutes for Sunday Feb. 7, 2010

Old business:
- IOTA at
Cumberland Island was called off due to
weather. Seas were 3 to 4 feet, and weather
was poor. Will be rescheduled for sometime
this spring.
- January
picnic went well. Andy won the fox hunt with
his tape measure yagi antenna.
- Plans for
the Tape Measure Yagi will soon be on the
web (Glenn)
- Offer from
folks in Effingham County to donate some
surplus A/C tents for day for a tent city.
- Boot camp
was successful. 7 people took the test. 1
past the general and also a VE.
- Planning
another boot camp in late March, early
April.
New business:
- (George)
Field day in June. George is a member of
Citizens Corp, and part of ARES.
- (Tom)
Donated a trailer with the crank up mast.
Someone will come by to pick up the trailer
at Tom's house. Will be sold to the club for
$1.00.
- (John
Chestnut) Has a piece of property that that
can be used as a field day site. Right on 17
and Coleraine, near the RR tracks.
- Orlando
Hamcation will be next weekend and several
members will be going up Friday and
Saturday.
- Reminder
that every Saturday morning at 9:00 we meet
at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Every
Sunday evening we have the CCARS net at
9:00pm.
- Glenn asked
for suggestions for event stations.
Treasurer's
report:
Starting
Balance on 11/30/2009: $899.30
Ending balance as of 12/31/2009 $1129.80
Tom needs reimbursement for CCARS.org and
CCARS.net domain renewals for $42.98
State of Georgia wants corporate renewal
fees of $85
Other business:
Presentation
by General (Duval County EC) and Anise
Dailey on ARES in Duval County.
Glenn asked for
everyone to bring someone to a meeting or bring
them into the club this year. He also asked for
members to make presentations at the meetings on
their interests. At least once a quarter or
possibly every meeting.
Thurston reminded us that field day is coming
soon, and CW is one of the best modes for field
day. Keep up the CW practice for field day.
Glenn asked if anyone is interested in climbing
a 300 foot tower that is owned by the county and
is available for club use.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:23pm.
